We support dance artists through a professional development programme, offering information, free studio time, regular dance intensives and opportunities for freelance work in educational, corporate and community settings.
In our role as creative catalyst we work with artists and partner venues in the Merseyside Dance Promoters Network to create and present original, groundbreaking and captivating dance. We promote dance as a means to mental and physical wellbeing, and offer a wide range of classes in our studio and in the community.
Through our dance and health strategy we aim to reach people who might not traditionally get involved in dance, including people living with asthma and dementia.
Accessing our services
Through our partnership with Granby Sure Start we are able to offer free or low cost translation of our materials for individuals and groups into approximately eight different languages including Arabic, Urdu, Mandarin, Somali and Polish.
Large print information about our events and projects is available on request.
MDI locates its projects and workshops in communities across Liverpool as well as in our premises on Hope Street or city centre venues, ensuring distance and transport costs are not always a barrier to participation.
We encourage artists and participants to make us aware of any specific access needs in advance to enable us to meet these needs to the best of our ability.
MDI is a member of COoL, a diverse collective of key arts organisations in Liverpool: championing the arts; changing perceptions; creating possibilities.
