MDI aims to support dance artists in through all stages of their careers in particular those based in Merseyside.
We provide information and a programme of continuing professional development, including: dance intensives training programme; ResiDance residency and bursary programme and platforms to present work. We offer free studio space and time to artists creating work. To find out more about MDI's support programme and other professional development opportunities join our mailing list.

MDI receives hundreds of requests each year for dance artists to work in schools, voluntary organisations and community groups.

We are running three training sessions for current freelance dance artists, teachers and choreographers, and anyone interested in working with MDI as part of our freelance pool.

MDI spent the last two years working with Dance 4, East London Dance and Dance Manchester on a Catalyst-funded project to diversify income in dance. Over this time we took a long hard look at the many ways our organisation could make itself more resourceful and resilient. We felt that MDI was not being seen clearly for what it is and that by failing to find clarity we were experiencing many misconceptions and misunderstandings of who we were and how we achieve our goals? So we put our neck on the line and asked an artist what she thought of us – we were not expecting this……
