MDI aims to support dance artists in through all stages of their careers in particular those based in Merseyside.
We provide information and a programme of continuing professional development, including: dance intensives training programme; ResiDance residency and bursary programme and platforms to present work. MDI wants the dance sector in the region to thrive and be exceptional. We aim to nurture dancers and choreographers by supporting their continued development and providing high quality professional training.

MDI is delighted to annouce it is setting up an Artist Support Programme supported by The Garrick Charitable Trust to develop the skills, practice and promotion of dance artists living in Merseyside.
MDI has a huge database of freelance artists able to perform and teach a wide variety of dance styles.
MDI receives hundreds of requests each year for dance artists to work in schools, voluntary organisations and community groups.
MDI spent the last two years working with Dance 4, East London Dance and Dance Manchester on a Catalyst-funded project to diversify income in dance. Over this time we took a long hard look at the many ways our organisation could make itself more resourceful and resilient. We felt that MDI was not being seen clearly for what it is and that by failing to find clarity we were experiencing many misconceptions and misunderstandings of who we were and how we achieve our goals? So we put our neck on the line and asked an artist what she thought of us – we were not expecting this……
