As part of the UK-wide Big Dance programme, this 2016 edition is created by choreographer Akram Khan with an original music track by composer Nitin Sawhney.
Teachers, artists and participants are invited to learn the original 4-minute choreography or develop their own version to suit their style, abilities and experiences of the themes of the work, which include journey, migration and overcoming of adversity.
Akram has created the choreography with three variations to enable groups of mixed abilities to perform together, incorporating seated movement and flexible options in each section of movement. Where artists and practitioners would like to develop their own versions of the work, information on the creative process and themes that underpin Akram’s work are available.
