MDI, supported by City Central BID and IFB Culture animated the streets, squares and shop fronts of Liverpool City Centre this June as their outdoor festival City Steps returned for an outing during this year’s International Festival of Business Culture programme: One City, One Summer.
Over Thursday 12th and Friday 13th of June companies performed in spaces across the city including Church Street, Williamson Square and Mann Island as well as some pop-up performances in some unexpected places.
Performances this year included the fantastically twisted The Deep choreographed by Gary Clarke, taciturn’s take on all things feminine with their duet Femme, Company Chameleon’s Push and Nicoletta Cabassi & Simona Lisi brought their quirky duet Floridia from Italy. There was also the chance to see China Pearl’s wonderful traditional Chinese dance, and the Tea Ladies Tilly and Trixie (Axial Dance) who promenaded with their tea trolley!
Karen Gallagher, Artistic Director of MDI said:
“City Steps is a chance to take world-class dance out into the city and bring Liverpool to life. It is an opportunity for us to engage people in the art form as well as a chance to show the international business community the best in UK Culture and what Liverpool has to offer. MDI is thrilled to be an official partner of IFB Culture: One City, One Summer.”
