Take time out this summer to give yourself some self care. Learn a new and exciting dance style, develop and extend your dancing skills, or simply improve your health and wellbeing by having fun moving and dancing to the rhythm of the beat in harmony with your own beat.
Movement Angol Dance Company offers all the opportunity to engage with choreographer / performer, lecturer and Somatics Movement Educator Francis Angol, exploring contemporary dance that is influenced by the teachings and practices of Sub-Saharan African dance forms, framed within Somatic dance practice. Explore the grounding of weight and rhythm using Angol’s lucid and fluid movement dynamics. Feel & Flow will take you through technique of style, choreography, movement meditation breath work, working with the imagination to connect deep within the inner rhythms and micro movements of the body.
Angol will also be joined by Somatic Movement Educator and Dance and Health specialist Maxine Brown from MDI, who will be delivering a special Somatics dance workshop.
‘Angol has the distinction of creative use of African movement vocabularies in a lyrical contemporary manner that seeks to reveal his contemplations.........a wonderful execution of Angol’s skill at utilising Africanist movement sensibilities with its polycentric body moves and rhythms’. Ballet Dance Magazine by Thea Nerissa Barnes, Lilian Baylis Theatre, Sadler's Wells, London
