We all know that dance is good for you and we'd like to prove it!
For the past six months, MDI have been running a series of classes and
special projects within our health and wellbeing programme focusing on the
five ways to well being and how dancing is an easy way of including these
five ways in your life, improving fitness and how you feel about the
Funded by Mersey Arts Health, the project has enabled MDI to return to the
African Elders group in Toxteth Town Hall and spread the
message of the five ways to wellbeing across our Dance for Parkinson's
programme in partnership with English National Ballet and our classes and
events for people living with dementia in partnership with the Alzheimer's
The project culminates on Friday March 18th in a gala performance at the
Epstein Theatre showcasing professional and community dance from

Thanks to funding from the P H Holt Foundation, renowned UK choreographer Henri Oguike is working with the 50 Moves contemporary dance company to
create a new dance piece which will be performed in the Move on Up Gala. Find out more...
The performance will also include new work from MDI regular groups and
partner groups themed around the five ways to well being. Groups featured
in the performance include: Growing Older Dis(gracefully), Empire Street
Dance, Dance Passion, Culture Africa, China Pearl, English National
Ballet, Riddim and Roots and introducing the MDI Youth Dance Company.
