Physiotherapy Through Dance (Bootle)

Wednesdays | 2:30pm - 3:30pm | The Orrell Trust | FREE

These workshops are for people living with Dementia and their carers. The classes are co-run by MDI’s Jennie and Maxine, two professional dancers experienced in working with people with dementia, and Clare, a qualified physiotherapist from The Brain Charity.

The 12-week course is free, and both people with dementia and their carers are welcome to join in these easy-going sessions. No dance experience necessary, just come along wearing loose clothing and the will to shake a leg a little!

The aim of the sessions is to reduce the risk of trips and falls, and to use physiotherapy exercises through dance routines. The physiotherapist can give one-on-one feedback over the 12-week period, to advise participants on best practice for them. Meanwhile, our professional dancers will practice dance movements, setting the therapy to music, to help boost self-esteem and activate bodily memory in an inclusive environment.

Refreshments will be provided during the workshops, and our studio is fully wheelchair accessible, including toilet facilities on the ground floor.

This class is led by MDI in partnership with The Brain Charity. Please contact [email protected] or call 0151 298 2999 to reserve a place.

Please note: classes are currently taking place at the Orrell Trust in Bootle (not at MDI).
