VITAL is MDI's programme of Dance for Older People.
Dance can boost wellbeing not only through the benefits of exercise but by giving people a chance to learn something new, make new friends and feel included in a group. This belief is supported by the New Economics Foundation’s work on the Five Ways to Wellbeing.
Our current and past partners include Liverpool PCT, Alder Hey Children's Hospital, Aintree Hospital, Asthma UK, The Alzheimer's Society, English National Ballet (Dance for Parkinson's), Sense of Sound, First Take, Tate Liverpool, Big Dance, Spider Project, Sure Start as well as many smaller independent community groups and charities.
MDI’s projects also create work for local dance artists, who receive training to work with people with specific health and care needs before delivering sessions and classes.
The impact of this work on some of the most vulnerable people in the community, and their families, is undoubted.
